Family of first Madhesh movement martyr struggle to meet their basic needs

Siraha, Sep 29 (ANI): Ranu Devi Singh- Mahato, mother of Ramesh Kumar Mahato, the first Martyr of Madhesh movement sits on the door of the house in Majhaura, Siraha, dipped in tears and sorrows. Ramesh Kumar Mahato, 16, was a student in Class 10th in Manakamana Secondary School in Lahan and on 19th January 2007, the Maoist had called for protest. Mahato and his friends went out of the school gate to see the protest and after a moment there was a gun fire, which struck his chest and he succumbed to his injuries. The government then declared him a martyr and compensated the family by providing financial assistance. While the mother of Mahato said the then Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum took some of the money from the family to construct the statue in Lahan. Former Minister and Representative from Siraha, Raj Lal Yadav said the party never took any money from the family to make the statue.
