Indiscriminate killing of dogs in wake of increasing attacks on residents

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 29 (ANI): A local administrative body in Kerala state has gone on a culling spree to kill all stray dogs in their village following repeated complaints of menace from residents in Kerala’sThiruvananthapuram city. The 17-member panchayat in Kalady area of Ernakulam district took the decision in the wake of attacks by stray dogs on domestic animals and children. Animal rights activist Sumitha said weak animal welfare laws result in such incidents. Several cases of animal cruelty have been reported from across the country in the recent past.
