Agartala, Tripura Sep 25 (ANI): In a shocking case of apathy, a girl child was sold for Rs 20,000 by a poor tribal couple in a Dhalai district of Tripura. Addressing the media, TMC (Trinamool Congress) MLA Sudip Roy Barman alleged that the poverty-ridden couple had sold their daughter to earn their livelihood. He further said that the parents have been arrested by the police, who are trying to trace out whereabouts of the kid. The tribal couple from remote Sarada Ruaja Para under Ratannagar village council of Gandachera subdivision of Dhalai district of Tripura is very poor and had BPL (below poverty line) card.
