Seeking relief from looming water crisis people conduct ‘Mahayagya’ in Rameswaram temple

Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu), Apr 30 (ANI): Troubled over the severe drought situation, locals, including farmers, on Sunday conducted a Mahayagya with hope of rain was organised in Tamil Nadhu’s Rameshwaram temple. TN has been suffering from acute water shortage and farmers are commiting all across the state. The Northeast monsoon, when the state receives most of its rainfall, was the worst in 140 years. The recent TN farmers protests in New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar attempted to highlight the grip of severe drought in the state. The situation has also led to a political ferment in the state and recently a state-wide strike was observed by the Opposition parties.
