Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today asked officials to extend cooperation to the Nalanda International University authorities to set up infrastructure for commencement of the academic activities there from 2012 academic session, official sources said.
He was presiding over a high level meeting with the heads of the human resoures, forest, science and technology, land revenue and industry departments, to review the progress about infrastructure at the proposed international university, the sources said.
The Nalanda University Vice-Chancellor Gopa Sabarbal, Nalanda district magistrate Sanjay Kumar Agrawal and the development commissioner K.C. Saha were also present at the meeting.
The Nalanda University Vice-Chancellor, while briefing Kumar, expressed satisfaction with the progress with the infrastructure at the proposed university and exuded confidence that the academic activities there will start from 2012 academic session.
Meanwhile, the Nalanada district magistrate handed over mutation and possession papers of 446 acres of land to the Nalanda University Vice-Chancellor to clear the decks for the setting up of the international university, the sources added.
