PATNA: Information technology giant Infosys is likely to set up its first software development centre in Bihar and the state government is planning to provide it with land, an official said Sunday.
“Infosys officials approached the state government for land to set up its centre. The government is considering to provide land at Bihta near Patna ,” an official in the chief minister’s office told.
Officials said it was still in an early stage and will be decided either by the end of March or April.
The government has decided to develop an IT park in Bihta, 30 km from Patna. Bihta is well-connected by road and rail.
According to officials, Infosys has shown keen interest for a plot near Bihta as it has emerged as the fast growing area after the state government acquired hundreds of acres for setting up IIT campus, Patna.
“IT giant Infosys is to set up its first centre in Bihar. It is a big news for Bihar, which has recorded high growth in the last few years,” an IT department official said here.
However, government officials said it was not clear how much investment Infosys will make in Bihar.
It is time we look seriously into the IT sector for Bihar. Â

This is the beginning. If the infosys tecnology is going to be a successful invesment in bihar then it will make other companies to queue up for the opportunities in Bihar. So this is the beginning for the new era to unfold in bihar which has saw many changes in all fields under Nitish Kumar. The law and order problem is seeing its end in Bihar and with that there is even growth in the social and educational infrastructure. This is a good oppourtunity for infosys here to tap the skilled human resource of Bihar which was to move outside the state earlier for better oppoutunities . Now they will have the oppourtunities in their home town only . Thanks to the people of Bihar and the will of the Government to chgange.
IT Sector investment is must in any state or country for the fastest development. I hope that some of major IT companies will also invest in next coming years.
This would be a great achievement of Bihar government. I would be very thankful to Nitish Kumar and Modi Jee if they will work in this area as on priority. Jay Bihar…Nandkumar @ Banglore….
