India, Japan, Thailand and Iran have  moved into semi finals of the first women’s World CUP Kabaddi championship on the third day at the Patliputra Sports complex here at Patna.
India defeated Indonesia 65-20 to clash with Jaapan in the semi-finals tomorrow. In a neck and neck contest, Japan trounced Bangladesh 15-17 in the quarter finals to storm into semi finals tomorrow. Thailand beat Sri Lanka 30-18 in the quarter finals today, while Iran outclassed Korea 40-16 registering a comfortable win in the quarter finals today. India would now take on Japan and Iran would clash with Thailand in semi-finals tomorrow. The final would also take place tomorrow after a cultural function.
This is the first time that World Cup Kabaddi tournament for women is being organised at Patna. Indian team is a strong contender to win the first World Cup on its home soil. Kabaddi is played in 31 countries at present and experts in the game are being sent to other countries to popularise it. The game would find a place in Olympics when it would spread to 50 countries, Gehlot said.
