Kolkata: In a rare Case, 29 Failed Girl Students of Rishi Aurobindo Balika Vidyalaya here took their Teachers Hostage for over 20 hours after they failed in the exams.
The drama started on Monday afternoon when 29 girls who failed their Pre-Board exams locked up the principal and a few teachers, demanding to let them pass
105 girls of the school had taken the pre-board exams. 76 of them passed the exam but 29 students failed in more than two subjects.
The headmistress, Srimati Ghosh, says that she won’t pass the students unless directed by the state’s education board.
Ms Ghosh called several authorities, including the education minister’s office, but there was no intervention.
Police had camped all night outside the school but did not take any action against the students.
The matter ended today morning around 11 AM when two officials of the West Bengal Higher Secondary Council came and intervened.
Students let the hostage go only after, Achintya Pal, secretary of the Higher Secondary Council announced that the Council would re-examine all answer scripts and then see how many of the failed students could be given pass marks.
