Jaguar Land Rover announces production of SF Saloon at Pune

Tata owned  Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced the production of its indigenously-built Jaguar XF saloon model at its Pune plant here.

The first models rolling out of the plant will feature its acclaimed 2.2-litre diesel engine being introduced in the Indian market, said JLR India vice-president Rohit Suri.

The production of Jaguar XF will be in addition to the Land Rover Freelander 2 which is being produced in Pune since May 2011, he said.

“Land Rover Freelander 2 and Jaguar XF are our best-selling models in India which have spurred the move to build them locally. The 100-awards winning Jaguar XF is popular due to its sports car performance, outstanding luxury saloon elegance and contemporary individual styling,” Suri added.

The Pune-built Jaguar XF will feature all standard features like rear view camera, TV tuner, navigation system, front passenger seat away, touch screen, gear shifting paddles, electric sunroof, rear screen electric blind, fuel efficiency and other things.

JLR recently announced a 32 percent sales growth in 2012. The company sold 2,393 vehicles last year compared to 1,813 cars in the year before that. In the financial year ending March 2012, it notched a revenue of 13.5 billion pounds with a profit before tax of 1.5 billion pounds.
