Actress Alefia Kapadia molested on Streets of Mumbai

Actress Alefia Kapadia, who has acted in a number of TV Serials like CID and  Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara was recently molested on the streets of Mumbai by a Motorist on December 21. The 28 year old Alefia was on her way to home along with her Child and a Female Friend in the evening, when this incident occurred.

The Man who allegedly harassed and stalked Alefia Kapadia

Reports suggest that a man in a Chevrolet with the plate number MH01PA598 drove up close to her car, and started harassing her with questions, asking her if she is on Facebook and if he could send her a friend request. When she ignored him, he persisted, saying he wanted to speak to her.

The Actress says that it was a slum area around and the man was trying to take advantage, because he saw two women in a car.

He passed lewd comments on her and even resorted to violence, while the Actress was locked up in her Car. The Accused scratched her Car from head to Tail and tried to break the glasses of her Car and open the door. Despite calling Police, no help came to her rescue on time. It was only when she managed to escape in her car, that the Police arrived.

Alefia, however managed to take Photograph of the accused from her Car and posted it on Facebook later along with her version of Incident. The matter caught Media’s Eye and was reflected in all major newspapers next day.

On December 22, she filed an FIR with the Police  against the unknown person. No Arrest has been reported till now.

Below is the Full Text of her Facebook post regarding the Incident:

“In today’s’s day and time, despite the public outrage towards the crime against women in the country, this man had the audacity to harass me on a busy Dharavi road at 6pm in Mumbai.

He was driving next to my car making lewd comments, inappropriate remarks and eve-teasing my female friend and me. He kept on doing it whiIst I tried to evade and drive away from him, but in vain. He didn’t even care that there was a little toddler with us in the car who got really scared of his stalking. As he went on for a while and I had nowhere to escape in the traffic, I clicked a picture of him and his car to warn him that I will complain against him.

He then got his car real close to mine in vengeance and scratched it right from head to tail. Shocked and raged I stopped my car. He then stopped his car real close to mine, blocking my path. He got out of his car and tried to open my car door and started abusing and yelling. All three of us in the car were really scared.I had thankfully locked the doors and managed to drive out of whatever little space I cud get, before the situation got nastier.I called the Mumbai Police Control room to get help, but before any help could arrive , this monster had escaped.

This is a clear example of Gunda Gardi happening in a city like Mumbai in broad daylight. It speaks volumes of the nature and audacity of some men who think they can behave anyhow”.

On December 24, she posted on her Facebook Page, about FIR with Mumbai Police.

“After facing harassment on the roads of Mumbai on Saturday the 21st of Dec, I have lodged an FIR on 22nd dec 2013 under section 509, 279 and 427, against the criminal in the Shahunagar Police Station. The media has been very supportive and has covered this story both in print and on air.I’m grateful to them for sharing my story, publishing the criminals photograph and coming to my rescue.

My appeal to all the women who hesitate in reaching out for help – Pls take a stand, raise your voice against crime and injustice. It is only then that we can get to the root of this issue and make the world a safer place for ourselves. I’m hoping the police will nab him soon and will bring justice to this ordeal”.
