Two U.S. Secret Service agents are under investigation after they reportedly drove a government car into White House barricades after drinking.
The Washington Post said Wednesday that one of the agents was a top member of President Obama’s protective detail.
They’re serious allegations… and reactions on the streets of Washington, D.C. are mixed:
“D.C. is unique because we have so many different police organizations and people are always looking after one another. Give people the benefit of the doubt, but protect the public, protect the president, protect the family.”, Ray Brisbane says.
“It’s concerning but I don’t know all the facts, so I’d like to hear all the facts. I guess people are considered innocent until proven guilty.”, Susan Doda Osborne says.
A spokeswoman for the Secret Service says that IF misconduct is identified, appropriate action will be taken.
It’s one more damaging allegation to the service’s credibility… still under scrutiny for a White House breach in which a man carrying a knife jumped the fence and ran into the executive mansion.
