Quito: Thousands of protesters took to the streets in Quito, Ecuador on Thursday (March 19), denouncing policies of President Rafael Correa’s government.

The demonstrators are angry about the possibility of indefinite re-election of incumbent politicians and tax increases in the face of lower oil prices.
Protesters chanted ‘Out Correa, Out’ while others banged on pots and pans.
There were similar protests in other cities across the country.
Clashes between police and protesters broke out in the capital, with angry demonstrators throwing rocks and Molotov cocktails at authorities.
One man could be seen kicking a police horse as riot police tried to clear the streets.
President Correa has accused the protesters of being linked to union leaders and right-wing groups trying to destabilize his government as it tries to grapple with falling oil prices and the appreciation of the U.S. dollar.
