Baghdad: Iraqi Kurdish authorities say they have evidence that Islamic State militants used chlorine gas against peshmerga fighters.
In this January 23 video provided to Reuters from the Kurdish Security Council, a suicide bomber is said to have used the toxic agent on the battlefield between Mosul and the Syrian border.
Kurdish forces killed the suicide bomber. Later they found several canisters on the ground — which the Kurds say contained chlorine.
The Pentagon had no immediate comment, and no international organization has confirmed the use of chemical weapons on Iraqi territory in the fight against Islamic State fighters.
