Misao Ohkawa is about to turn 117. The Guinness World Book of Records says she’s the oldest woman in the world.
Born to a clothing merchant in 1898, Ohkawa married in 1919.
She’s had three children, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She’s one of nearly 60,000 centenarians living in Japan, whose life-expectancy rate is one of the highest in the world.
And the secret to Misao Ohkawa’s long life?
“No idea” she says.
