Two British nationals detained by Turkish paramilitary forces last week as they tried to cross into Syria — are briefly taken to psychiatric ward Tuesday, ahead of their deportation. The two unidentified men, were detained along with seven other British nationals.
It was not clear why they were trying to cross the border.
But thousands of foreigners have joined the ranks of Islamic State and other radical groups in Syria and Iraq — many of them crossing through Turkey.
Turkey has faced criticism for not better controlling its borders, and in turn, has accused European countries of failing to prevent would-be jihadists from traveling in the first place.
