Georgia: Former Drummer and one of the founders of Rock Band Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Burns died in a Car Accident on Friday at Georgia. According to reports, Burns was driving on Tower Ridge Road in Bartow County when his car hit a mailbox on the side of road at around 11:56PM. According to Hollywoodlife.com, he was not wearing any seatbelt at the time of accident.
He was 64. He was one of the founders of the Southern Rock Band Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1964 along with Gary Rossington and Larry Junstrom. He helped the band to reach the stardom.
He had played on the band’s first two official albums: (Pronounced ‘LÄ•h-‘nérd ‘Skin-‘nérd) and Second Helping. Burns left in 1974 due to being overwhelmed by life on the road, and was replaced by Artimus Pyle.
In 1996, he participated in a performance to promote Freebird: The Movie. On March 13, 2006, he rejoined Lynyrd Skynyrd for one performance as he played alongside Gary Rossington, Billy Powell, Ed King, Artimus Pyle and the Honkettes at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
