Mumbai, Feb 03 (ANI): Rais Shaikh, a corporator from Mumbai, who represents the Samajwadi Party (SP), wrote a letter on Saturday to the city’s Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta and the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) that a signboard should be placed at restaurants suggesting whether the meat sold at that particular eating joint restaurant is “Halal” or “Jhatka”. Speaking to ANI, SP Corporator Rais Shaikh said, “It’s mandatory in Muslim religion to consume ‘halal’ food. Restaurants must put up signs if food they are selling is ‘halal’. I am not against anyone selling ‘halal’ or ‘jhatka.’ I have written to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner and Food and Drugs Administration in this regard.”
