Dr. D Y Patil, the present Governor of Tripura has been appointed as the Governor of Bihar, while Bihar Governor Devanand Konwar has been transferred as Tripura Governor.
An eminent Educationist, he is the founder of the famous  D. Y. Patil college of Engineering and Technology at Kolhapur and D Y Patil College of Engineering at Pune .  He is associated with a large number of educational, social and cultural activities.  He received the Padma Shri award in 1991 for social work.
His full name is Dnyandeo Yashwantrao Patil. He was born at Ambap village in Kolhapur. An highly qualified professional, he  is an M. A., LL. B. and Ph. D.
