Bali Nine member Andrew Chan’s last wish was Abolishing Death Penalty , says brother

Sydney: Friends and family of Australian Andrew Chan say a final farewell at his funeral in Sydney. Andrew Chan was one of the eight drug convicts executed in Indonesia at the end of April. His brother was among those to pay tribute.

Michael Chan said, “People make mistakes in life and deserve a second chance. He showed us all that even when we have such a heavy burden hanging over our head we can still change into a better human being and also care about others a make a difference in this world. One of Andrew’s last wishes was to ensure we keep fighting to abolish the death penalty even though he lost a good fight.”

Mourners included the family of fellow Australian Myuran Sukumaran who was executed at the same time.

His funeral is due to take place on Saturday.
