Patna, (BiharTimes): There is good news for computer-users in interiors of power-starved Bihar. Dr Bhaskar Choubey, originally from Bihar, and now a professor in the University of Glasgow, UK, has started a project which will enable internet users in interiors to get connected to the info-highway.
His computer would make use of solar power. Solar power will be a suitable choice for states like Bihar, which has adequate sunlight and power is scarce. It would use GSM 3G or 2G mobile technology for accessing the internet.
Interacting with students of the Chandragupta Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) here on Thursday he said his solar-powered computer would come bundled with a less than one square foot solar panel and would be sturdy enough to withstand the harsh weather conditions here. It would cost Rs 20,000 a computer, he added.
He said that the computer prototype would be developed with two Pakistanis, one Portguese and a Chinese researcher.
Dr Bhaskar Choubey, is the son of a retired school teacher of Natwar village in Rohtas district
