Patna,(BiharTimes): The chief minister Nitish Kumar said on Tuesday that the mega bridge over river Ganga between Bakhtiarpur in Patna district and Tajpur in Samastipur district would be the first such project to be built under the Public Private Partnership mode.
This is historic day and one example of changing Bihar, he said while speaking at a function here. Nitish said this was just the beginning of private investment in the road sector.
He assured that many more such offer would come up soon. The bridge over Ganga would be built on design, build, operated, transfer basis, he added.
The four-lane 5.5 km long road bridge between Karjan village on National Highway-31 at Bakhtiarpur and Tajpur in Samastipur district on National Highway-28 would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1,502 crore.
The mega bridge would be constructed under PPP for which the Hyderabad-based Hindustan Engineering Syndicate (HES) consortium has evinced interest, officials said.
This would be the first bridge over river Ganga to be built after the one built between Bhagalpur and Naugachia about a decade ago. This would reduce the distance between Nalanda and Samastipur considerably.
