Voters preferred educated candidates

PATNA: Bihar needs a change and for that its people have taken steps by voting for the qualified candidates and rejecting the less qualified.

Out of the total 243 candidates who were victorious, 58 per cent hold the educational qualification of Intermediate and above.

An educated member in the government can contribute better in the development of the state, said Shilpi Sinha, a student of Magadh Mahila College, giving the reason why maximum number of winning candidates hold degrees.

In this poll, there were six illiterate candidates, but none of them could win. 12 per cent of the candidates are matric pass and 20 per cent have completed their Intermediate.

Moreover, 36 per cent of the candidates hold degrees above graduation and eight per cent of the candidates hold graduate (professional) degree,17 per cent are postgraduates and 16 per cent hold doctorate degrees. Four candidates are fifth class pass and six are eighth pass.
