Bihar’s Super 30 popular in Japan also

PATNA: Math wizard Anand Kumar, whose innovative Super- 30 institute has helped underprivileged dozens to make it to the prestigious IIT, is getting more acclaim across the globe.

Impressed with its achievement, premier Japanese TV channel, Kansai Telecasting Corporation (KTC), has decided to make a documentary on the success of Super-30 and its founder.

KTC’s director Yuta Amma is in the city with his crew to make the documentary. “I am extremely happy to be at Super-30. It is really amazing to find underprivileged children sweating it out under expert guidance for the IIT. This is a great inspiration for millions of others who want to do the same, but are handicapped due to poverty,” Amma said.
Earlier, several Japanese TV channels had prepared films on Anand and Super-30. Popular Japanese daily Yomuri also did a feature on Super 30. Last year, Newsweek and Time magazines had also featured Anand’s school.

Discovery Channel, too, had made an hour-long documentary on the institute, while a film made on it by Christopher Michel went on to win the Viewers’ Choice Award in the USA.

The recognition of his effort has boosted the confidence of Anand Kumar. “I am happy that this small initiative has put Bihar on the global educational map. This will inspire me to do even better to make Bihar and India proud,” Anand told TOI.

In the last eight years, the novel initiative has helped 212 students clear the IIT-JEE. All the 30 students of the institute have made it to the IITs in last three years
