United States has sacked the two officials responsible for humiliating former Indian President Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam on September 29. Formerly, US apologized him for such a behaviour. This development comes after Indian government raised the issue seriously with the US Embassy.
The officials not only humiliated him, but also went to the extent of taking out his boots and jackets from the plane of Air India which he had already boarded. Following Indian complaint, US authorities carried out an enquiry and found that they had indeed frisked Kalam.
This act has come as a relief to dozens of Indian diplomats and eminent personalities who are subjected to inferior treatment by US Security Agencies.
In 2009, America’s Continental Airlines apologised to APJ Abdul Kalam for frisking him before he boarded a flight to the US.
Former Ambassador to US Meera Shankar was also frisked at Missisipi Airport last year while she was to board a flight to Baltimore.
