Making a counter allegations, Congress has targeted BJP and IAC Activist Arvind Kejriwal over leveling charges against Congress leaders. It also hinted of an internal nexus between the two which was playing game against the Congress.
Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said the Bharatiya Janata Party was facing internal strife over its prime ministerial candidate.
In an apparent reference to IAC charges against BJP president Nitin Gadkari, Tewari said the party was reaping the harvest of “seeds of falsehood” it had sown earlier.
“He (Gadkari) should reply to the charges. But with the kind of politics his party practices, it is now reaping the harvest of what it had sown. The developments that have come before the country are an outcome of the internal feud in the BJP,” Tewari said.
Referring to BJP MP Ram Jethmalani’s support to Gujarat Chief minister Narendra Modi’s candidature for the post of prime minister, Tewari said such remarks reflected the internal tension in the opposition party.
Tewari claimed that Ram Jethmalani had also talked of having some proof against a party leader.
“If he has proof, why does he not disclose it in public interest?” Tewari said.
Without mentioning Kejriwal, Tewari rejected the activist’s allegations against Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra, and said these were only a reiteration of earlier charges, to which an effective reply has already been made.
Tewari said he had earlier spoken of the probability of charges being made against a BJP leader at the behest of a faction of the party.
“I had said earlier that allegations would be levelled due to one section of the party… If you analyse, you will find that what I said was true. The BJP should introspect,” Tewari said.
