Designed and built by Goa Shipyard Limited, the ship demonstrates potential of the country’s indigenous designing and ship building capabilities, the release added.
It said INS Saryu will help meet growing requirements of ocean surveillance.
The role of the ship is to undertake surveillance of exclusive economic zone and carry out anti-piracy patrols and fleet support operations besides providing maritime security to off-shore assets.

The entire propulsion and power management of the ship is controlled electronically by means of a remote control system which also incorporates automatic power management system, the release said.
