As the father of the Delhi gang-rape victim revealed her name Sunday, it rejuvenated the campaign for justice for the woman with a deluge of messages in the virtual world lauding the grief-stricken family’s decision and vowing support to it.
The father, in an interview to British publication The Sunday People said that his daughter didn’t do anything wrong and the revelation will give courage to other women. The man was interviewed in his village in Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh. The publication carried pictures of her family at their ancestral home.
The 23-year-old woman who was gang-raped Dec 16 in a moving bus is being referred to by pseudonyms like ‘Nirbhaya’, ‘Abhaya’, ‘Amaanat’ and ‘Damini’. As per indian laws, the identity of victims of sexual assault cannot be revealed.
“Admiration and respect for the father for letting her name (gang-rape victim) be known to the world. This will definitely strengthen our cause as well as give a face to this movement seeking strict laws for women,” Chhavi Singh Deo posted on her Facebook wall.
Jay Thakkar, referring to the young woman, tweeted: “Courage, Bravery and Suffering now have a new common synonym”.
The revelation prompted many to revive their pledge to keep fighting for stringent punishment for the woman’s six attackers and more security for women.
“She has a name. It’s not Nirbhaya or Damini. We salute you. India will fight back!!” tweeted Nisha Arjun.
“Our fight has got a face now you have shaken our souls and set our hearts aflame. We will never forget,” posted Neeraj Singh on Facebook, referring to the victim who died of her injuries Dec 29 in a Singapore hospital, where she was shifted for better treatment.
Suhaib Ilyasi tweeted: “Now that we know the name of the victim, let’s vow that we will intensify our agitation.”
Sonorita Chauhan was of the view that the focus should remain on the fight and not on the name of the victim.
“Nirbhaya, Amaanat, Damini – what’s in a name? It’s the fight that matters, right?” she tweeted.
Once again, India ministers prove to be incompetent. Who is being bribed at this very moment? Who is checking on their bank accounts and plane tickets as we speak? Who is willing to a lead? Elect high designated reputable Military Officers to run the country, surely North America and common wealth countries have some good proven reason to have in their constitutions. Those kinds of people will die for their country will work for the people and not the money. Unlike every other official and minister in India.. The country makes such impressions of themselves around the world with Bollywood sophistication, dreams and one man attacking 10 villians, nothing ever practical.. The decision process makes Indian officials look so illiterate.
I trust my Indian brothers, sisters and the public, to finish these men off when they get the chance. This particular rape was too much to handle. 6 males, Inserting rusted metal rods inside of her vagina all the way to her chest, puncturing her organs-then pulling out her intestines with their bare hands. Biting her skin till it bled, cutting her breasts with blades and bashing her head with hammers? Then they wanted to run her over naked under the bus, until her friend managed to help her out all by him self. No police, ambulance helped, not even in the hospital to cover up their half to full naked cold bodies.
She was raped brutally and murdered. And millions more in India.
There is no Indian justice. Money talks and bullshit walks. No wonder Indians don’t want to live in India. They are very right to leave India and settle in countries that hold intelligence and respect for human beings.
I would never want to live in a country where the government does not respect females, in the court room or outdoors. Even public toilets are made more for men and less for women…why? Because we can hold in our urine more longer than men? How stupid is that!
The ministers are illiterate, selfish and full of bribes and they make me angry.
The root cause for all of this over thousands of years is HINDUISM (which traditionally favors men more than women), festivals such as Karva Chauth, Rakhi and more, all promote men and demote females, the caste system, the new mixed economy and the democratic society. Rashan cards don’t work, we need social security numbers for individuals and we must pay taxes, and those taxes must be used to invest in the country’s infrastructure just like developed countries do. We need less temples, mosques, gurdwaras and more schools and hospitals.
No other country in the world is corrupt or as divided socially as India is. India has such resources and opportunities but to what end? Once we find a balance between-rituals, religion, state and economics based on capitalism and not mixed socialism. We can finally invest in the country like other common wealth countries do and become equals. There are still places where there is no food and water, electricity or education in India. Yet the government boasts about it’s economic power, nuclear power, Bollywood, IT Hub.
It’s all meaningless. Because the nation is still a mess. It would have been better under the British rule, if they could not help themselves. No wonder people wish to move to other countries and leave India.
India will never change however, because it’s religion is too strong. Maybe in 40 years but certainly not now.
Our Poiticians are only involved in casteism and vote bank politics. Why?Because our Constitution is also framed with heavy policies for caste based reservations.
Woman are the last thing in the agenda of politicians.
I am spankoholic highly highly. If I am drunken & some girl gets ready to spanked by me , Alcohol with my spanko attitude can make me give brutal pain & even murder to innocent girl. I think it is because of my parent’s & family love , I am in control & I will never do such.
If spankoholic chip is removed from my brain , I am as good as pig. you know pig is dirty but it never harms even cow. same with me , I hate pain first in me , then in my family then in all animals & humans.
But I like highest pain to my type people if they reach to use IRON ROD in group & kill someone . Really it breaks my mind .
If I gets fever , I surrnder to doctor to insert needle in me.
If I commit such hienous crime , I hope all people must get together & stone me to death.
