Central Government has finally okayed the setting up of a campus of Aligarh Muslim University Campus at Kishanganj, Bihar, The Government also allocated Rs 30 lakh to AMU management on March 6 last to prepare DPR (Detailed Project Report) of the new campus. The Government has also decided to release Rs 30 crore for construction of the new campus, once the DPR is approved.
The Plan is to start the Campus with 2013-14 Academic Session itself , which literally means that the Campus would be operative latest by August 2013.
The setting up of AMU Campus has been controversial one with Bihar Govt and AMU Authorities went on a tussle over allotment of land last year.
The Government plans for a rapid expansion of AMU. Apart from Bihar, AMU will open branches in Murshidabad (West Bengal), Malappuram (Kerala), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) and Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh).
