British Parliamentarians learn about RTPS in Bihar

Patna: Bihar is again back to spreading the light of wisdom and knowdledge to the outside world. An Eight-member Delegation from British Parliament yesterday learnt about the historic Right to Public Services Act implemented by Bihar.  The Britishers also visited several rural areas to see how the Act is being implemented at ground level.

The eight-member delegates from the UK Commonwealth Parliamentary Association comprised Alun Cairns, Lord Career, Jonathan Djanogly, Baroness Gale, Baroness Bushcombe, Diana Johnson, Mary Macleod, Seema Malhotra and Lord Rana.

The delegates also called upon Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Sushil Modi to discuss the works being funded by the Department For International Development (DFID) in Bihar.

The Delegation was much delighted after learning about the method of speedy trials adopted in Bihar. In 2012 alone, over 10,000 cases have been disposed off  using speedy trials.  Bihar also holds the record of fastest justice in the Rape cases, when an accused was punished within 7 days of the Crime.
