Lakshmi is the first celebrity Buffalo of India. She is more precious than BMW these days as she has been bought by a Farmer of Andhra PRadesh for whooping Rs 25 Lakhs in Cash. This is the highest price paid for any buffalo across the world.
Lakshmi who initially belonged to Kapoor Singh of Singhwa Khas village in Hisar district of Haryana has been  bought by Rajiv Sarpanch of Andhra Pradesh.
Kapoor Singh had bought it in 2011 for Rs. 250,000 rupees ($4,100) which is the normal cost of a Murrah breed of Buffaloes.
Lakshmi yields up to 32 litres of milk every day. She has also won many prizes at shows at the state level, earning Rs three lakh in prize money.
She also earned the praises of  Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda at an event.
Now Lakshmi has been sold for Rs 25 Lakhs ($ 41,000 ) while her calf has been sold for Rs 3 Lakhs.
According to Kapoor Singh, “I didn’t want to sell her, but the new owner offered me the price I asked for. He had come last year and offered me 190,000 rupees, but I refused. He liked the buffalo so much that he made a video film on her and showed it in his village”.
Kapoor Singh has earned more than Rs 35 Lakhs in last 2 years. Kapoor Singh plans to use this money for his daughter’s marriage.
By the way, the new owner Rajiv Sarpanch plans to make her participate in Andhra Pradesh’s “best cattle contest” in January next year where the winner will get a kilogram of gold.
