Chitraang Murdia, a student from Rajasthan has topped the JEE Advanced 2014 Examination conducted by IIT Kharagpur for entrance to undergraduate engineering programmes at 14 IITs across the country. Chitraang, scored 334 out of 360 in the JEE Advanced conducted on 25 May.
In an Interview Chitrang said, that he wants to pursue research as his career goal. This is in harp contrast to other IITians who long to high paying job or start their own company.
He says that India is far behind other countries in Research and the number of patents filed are much less. “Research will also help our industry to grow and the country will benefit. I want to do something for the society by creating solutions to problems of the underprivileged”, he was quoted saying in an Interview.
As of now, Chitraang wants electronics or computer science from IIT Bombay.
In all 27,151 candidates, out of 1,26,997 registered, have qualified the examination with 19,416 in common merit list — 6,000 in OBC (NCL), 4,400 SC and 1,250 ST merit lists.
