In an exclusive chat with NNIS, left wing economist and activist Prasenjit Bose today said that containing inflation, reviving manufacturing and industrial growth and stabilising rupee should be the three major priorities for the Modi government in General Budget.
Prasenjit said the previous UPA government has failed to contain the inflation and the country has faced double digit inflation for a long period of time. Besides that the manufacturing and industrial sector has also witnessed a sharp decline while rupee fell to its record low against dollar which ultimately derailed the economy from its growth path in previous regime. He said the revival of growth should be the top priority of the government.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the Lok Sabha will present the Budget for 2014-15 on July 10 while the Economic Survey will be tabled in the Parliament on July 9.
Prasenjit said that though in his pre poll campaign Narendra Modi spoke vehemently against price rise, unemployment and slowdown but we all know that ‘it is easier said than done’. The policies, which will be adopted by Modi government, is still not clear and common people would like to see what the budget has to offer
