Pahalgam, May 18 (ANI): Indian Army organised a cultural get-together in the picturesque Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir as part of its programme to reach out to people.
The programme was well received by the people, who felt that such events would help establish a formidable relationship between Kashmiris and the Indian army. Kashmiri separatists oppose the presence of a large number of Indian Army in Kashmir Valley and accuse them of human rights violations, a charge the latter denies.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Strategic Chinar Corps, Subrata Shah said the involvement of locals in such programmes would send a right signal ahead of the tourist season.
Various cultural performances, including local dances and folk music, were the highlight of the occasion. Shah said he hoped the efforts made by Indian Army would help bridge gap with Kashmiri citizens.
