New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi said that dissent is being stifled and minorities feel increasingly insecure. Gandhi presented the GK Reddy Memorial National Award to late veteran Indian journalist Vinod Mehta.
The award was received by Mehta’s wife, Sumita Mehta. Addressing the gathering in New Delhi, Gandhi lauded Mehta for his works on religion and communal harmony. Gandhi lauded Mehta for his courage and strong journalistic ethics.
Mehta, who was the editorial chairman of Outlook India magazine, passed away on March 8 after prolonged illness. Mehta was one of the most influential editors and had launched a number of successful publications such as the Sunday Observer, Indian Post, The Independent and The Pioneer (Delhi edition).
