Amritsar (Punjab), Oct 07 (ANI): Thronged by the people of different faiths, the 300 year old Peer Baba Sheikh Fatah ji Dargah stands as a testament to communal harmony in the Amritsar city of Punjab. Regarded as the contemporary Sufi saint of Chishti order, Baba Sheik Fatah is said to have spent his entire life working for the welfare of humanity. Today his shrine is thronged by the devotees from different parts of the countries. The dargah holds special place in the hearts of local Jatt community who offer kheer to the saint everytime when their cows or buffalos start with their new lactation period. Along with them, the devotees whose wishes get fulfilled also offer this rice pudding, which is then distributed among all devotees who visit the dargah. Besides, a langar service, which is basically a Sikh tradition, also runs in the Dargah where devotees irrespective of their caste and community can have food. For the last several years, the Dargah of Baba Sheikh Fatah has paying a key role in strengthening secularism and promoting peace and harmony amongst all religions.
