In a bid to ease strained ties between New Delhi and Islamabad via cultural diplomacy, Pakistani singing legend Ghulam Ali is all set to enthrall music lovers in temple town of Varanasi.
Ali is scheduled to perform at a music concert in Varanasi on April 08, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Lahore-based musician is to mesmerize the audience with his traditional ‘ghazals’.
He met Pakistani envoy to India, Abdul Basit, in New Delhi. The Pakistan High Commissioner described the forthcoming musical event as a much awaited experience for people on both sides of the border. Meanwhile, Ali opined that such cultural events should take place more frequently between the two neighbours.
Foreign secretary S Jaishankar pledged to improve relations with Pakistan on March 03 after the first meeting with his counterpart Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhary since India called off talks aimed at easing the rivals’ many disputes last year.
