Qatar – The Indian Association for Bihar and Jharkhand (IABJ) – a socio-cultural organization affiliated to Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) under the aegis of Embassy of India, Doha-Qatar and Bihar Foundation, Chapter Qatar, Jointly organizing Bihar Divas celebration on 11 June 2010 in Qatar Charity Hall, behind Mall. Bihar was carved out from Bengal on 22 March 1912 and this will be for the first time the people of eastern state Bihar are celebrating the day in Qatar.
“Bihar Foundation is a single window system of Bihar Government to interact with NRB (Non Resident Bihari) around the world and to highlight achievements and achievers of Bihar, to showcase Bihar culture, craft and cuisine and to demonstrate that rising above the petty considerations of caste, creed and color, we are one, globally” said Vivek Kumar Singh, CEO, Bihar Foundation, Government of Bihar.
“This is the first time we are celebrating Bihar Divas in Qatar. The motive to celebrate Bihar Divas is to bring all the people of Bihar origin around the world on one platform to feel proud of present Bihar and its glorious past and to join hands in progress of Mother Land India” Shakil Ahmed Kakvi, Indian Association for Bihar and Jharkhand
IABJ and Bihar Foundation, Doha-Qatar has constituted two awards “Maulana Mazharul Haque Award” and “Veer Kunwar Singh Award” based on the name of freedom fighters from Bihar. These awards will be presented to the Bihari born writer /poet/kavi on publication of their literary work during their stay in Qatar away from mother land. The award will be decided by the award selection committee consisting of Mr.K.M. Verghese , President Indian Cultural Centre, Mr Nilangshu Dey, President ,ICBF ,Mr. Azim Abbas, President IBPN, Mr. Syed Abdul Hye, Patorn, Bazm-e-Urdu Qatar, Mr. M.S. Bukhari ,Chaiman, NRI Institute Qatar chapter ,Shakil Ahmed Kakvi,President, Indian Association for Bihar and Jharkhand and the committee will be chaired by Philanthropist Mr. Hassan Chougule.
“I congratulate Indian Association for Bihar & Jharkhand and Bihar Foundation Qatar Chapters for doing good work for Biharis and Bihar,” Dy. Chief Minister of Bihar, Sushil Kumar Modi said in his message to Shakil Kakvi, president of IABJ,Doha-Qatar.
The program will be consisting of Ek Sham Bihar ke Naam by members of Kainat Foundation in which they will show the glimpses of Bihar, Bhojpuri song and urdu drama based on dowry, a formal function with Award presentation followed by Mushairah and Kavi Sammelan.
