PATNA: The East Central Railway (ECR) will observe International Level Crossing Day (ILCD) on Tuesday.
The International Union of Railways observes June 22 as the International Level Crossing Day every year to create mass awareness among common people about the need to maintain safety measures at the unmanned railway crossing gates.
According to ECR CPRO Dilip Kumar, the Indian Railways has decided to observe the day to request the people to cross unmanned railway crossing gates safely. `Act safely’ at level crossings is the message this year for the common people across the country on the occasion of ILCD.
Though there are about 35,363 level crossing gates across the country, about 17,954 of them are unmanned, he said.
The CPRO said that the railways has launched a massive awareness drive at the country level to check accidents at the unmanned crossings.
