PATNA: The Narkatiyaganj Government Rail Police (GRP) on Thursday arrested one Santosh Kumar from 402 Dn passenger train and recovered fake currency notes to the tune of Rs 93,500 from his possession.
GRP SHO Shashi Bhushan Singh said he along with some policemen were checking the train as it arrived at Narkatiyaganj in West Champaran from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. He said three persons tried to escape when they saw the police team.
Singh said that GRP men in association with the district police caught one of them, who was later identified as Santosh Kumar, a resident of Ninwalia under Mufassil police station in Bettiah. He said two more persons Nagina Mukhia and Anil Patel were also accompanying the arrested youth.
The SHO said that the trio had gone to Delhi and then to Rewari in Haryana and brought the fake currency notes from there. He said that there were 48 currency notes of Rs 1,000 denomination and 91 notes of Rs 500 denominations. Raids are on to arrest his two associates, who escaped from there, he added.
