CM opens girls’ school building

PATNA: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday inaugurated a new building at Gardanibagh’s Kamala Nehru Girls’ school which has been named after his wife late Manju Kumari Sinha, who was a teacher in the same school.

Nitish inspected the new building which consists of a computer room, a gymnasium, a lab and classrooms. He also offered floral tributes to a portrait of his wife.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister praised the human resource and building construction departments for constructing the building. He said the distribution of bicycles to girl students of government schools was one of the most successful schemes in the country. As his government started giving Rs 2,000 to each girl student of class IX to purchase bicycles, the number of girl students in class IX rose from 1.7 lakh to 4.9 lakh in three years, he said.
