GRP to seek remand of arrested driver

PATNA: The Patna GRP would move the civil court in the state capital to take on remand one Dipak Kumar who was arrested recently from the Patna Junction’s circulating area in connection with the theft of a Bolero jeep.

The vehicle was stolen from Jharkhand and brought to Patna for sale. However, Patna GRP acted swiftly and nabbed Dipak. The vehicle was later handed over to its real owner, Patna GRP SHO Alok Kumar said.

According to Kumar, police investigations revealed that Dipak was a driver by profession and he drove the stolen vehicle right from Jharkhand to the state capital. He was involved in the racket of sale and theft of vehicles. His further interrogation in the matter would throw light on the inter-state gang of vehicle lifters, he said.

The SHO said that the Patna GRP keeps close tabs on vehicles parked in the circulating area of Patna Junction for the purpose of sale or any other illegal business. It was a solitary instance when a stolen four-wheeler vehicle was found parked in the Patna Junction circulating area and police recovered it on a tip-off, he added.
