Jobs to 6 lakh aspirants in 5 years

PATNA: Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi on Friday said the NDA government had given jobs to 4.4 lakh aspirants while employment to another 1.83 lakh applicants is in the pipeline.

“The NDA government will be providing employment to nearly six lakh persons during its tenure,” Modi said while speaking at the function where chief minister Nitish Kumar released a report card of the government.

Attributing the growth and development to able leadership, tireless efforts of ministers and the team spirit displayed by government employees and officials, Modi said Bihar is the only state in the country which distributed 27.44 lakh bicycles to girls and boys studying in government schools. Around 29,137 students passing matric with a first division were given stipend of Rs 10,000 each in 2008. “This increased students’ interest in education and this year the number of matric first divisioners increased to 76,136,” he said.

Modi also said a sum of only Rs 1,253 was spent on construction of roads in 15 years from fiscal year 1990-91 to 2004-05. This expenditure increased to Rs 22,743 crore in five years from 2005-06 to 2010-11, he added.
