Govt to promote Cruise Tourism in Bihar

Tourism and Shipping Ministry are holding talks to promote Cruise Tourism in the country. Speaking to reporters after signing a pact with International Finance Corporation, Tourism Minister Ms Selja said there is a huge potential in this area. She added that India is fast emerging as a favoured tourist destination throughout the year. Ms. Selja said people from around the world are attracted by the rich cultural heritage of the country. She said that the objective of the pact with the international finance corporation is to attract private investment to promote Buddhist tourism in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
Earlier, the pact between the two countries was signed to define the investment policy and competitive strategy for improving services to tourists along the Buddhist circuit and create more job opportunities for locals. AIR correspondent adds that Buddhist circuit is an iconic travel experience for about four hundred million people across the world. The important places of heritage in this circuit include cities of Kesariya, Kushinagar, Patna, Nalanda, Rajgir, Sarnath, Bodhgaya and Vaishali.
