Patna: Mathematician Anand Kumar, the founder of the Super 30 coaching institute, after inspiring students and teachers alike all over the nation, is now headed to Abu Dhabi where he would speak at the Institute of Chartered Accounts of India on October 14.
The organization has invited Kumar for a talk on inclusive education. In the past, the organization had invited former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Mr. K V Kamath, Mr. T. N Manoharan, and Mr. Mani Shankar Aiyar.
During his visit to Abu Dhabi, Kumar will share his experiences with the teachers and students of India School, Gulf’s premier learning center.
The Super 30 founder has earlier spoken at various places including Atlanta and San Diego in the United States at events organized by the Mathematical Association of America. His speech was appreciated at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad. He has also addressed groups of managers of multinationals like Pizza Hut and Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Recently his school was featured as one of the most innovative schools of the world by the Newsweek magazine and Time Magazine announced his school as the best school of Asia in 2010.
Other accolades accumulated by the Super 30 and Anand include recognition by noted writer Nadan Nelikani, Pramod Batra, and Rashmi Bansal who included his biography and work in their books. Also, the Discovery Channel recently aired a one-hour programme on Super 30. Japan’s acclaimed actress and former Miss Japan Norika Fujiwara also visited Patna to make a documentary on Anand’s initiatives.
Kumar’s name was included in the Limca Book of World Records for his amazing teaching capabilities.
Recently, Rashad Hussain, the special envoy of the US President Barack Obama, visited Super 30 and described it as “the best of India”.
Fascinated by mathematics since early childhood, Anand always dreamt of becoming a mathematician. He started showing sparks of brilliance in his early days.
In 1994, Anand got an opportunity to pursue higher education in Cambridge University but his poor financial health came in the way. Having witnessed extreme financial hardship since childhood, he decided to do something for the poor students who, invariably, fade away due to lack of opportunities.
This led to the birth of ‘Ramanujam School of Mathematics’ where Kumar trained a small group of students for various competitive examinations.
In 2002, with the help of his brother Pranav Kumar and some of his students, he started the Super 30 program to groom poor students for the entrance test of IIT entirely free of cost.
In the last three years, all 30 students of Super 30 have made it to the JEE drawing worldwide attention.
“This is a great recognition which will not only keep me motivated but also the students to do even better. I am happy that my small initiative has brought Bihar on the international map for positive reasons,” Kumar said.
