Develop Bihar into international tourist spot

PATNA: Having been endowed with numerous historical sites, the state of Bihar can well be developed into an international tourist spot on the pattern of Bangkok. Inflow of foreign tourists will also boost up the economy of the state.

Making these observations here on Sunday, L N Mithila University pro-vice-chancellor Padmasha Jha said that places like Vaishali, Pawapuri Nalanda, Rajgir, Bodh Gaya, Bhimbandh, Kanwar Lake and Sitamarhi can be developed as tourists’ hot spots which will go a long way in removing the unemployment among the local people.

Jha, who returned here after attending the Indo-Thai summit at Bangkok, said that Thailand, the ancient Siam, is undergoing a silent revolution these days. It has become a hub of international trade. It is selling commodities free of tax and the profit goes to the masses.

The education system of Thailand is guided by professional needs and the participation of girls in public life has increased considerably. Tourism is the principal industry of the country. She pleaded for developing closer cultural and trade relations between India and Thailand.

Jha said that India should expand its domestic and international market by making its indigenous products attractive and affordable to the common men. The Indian government should also allow certain concessions and privileges to the foreign visitors to increase their influx.

Our cottage industries should get more encouragement as their products can fetch huge foreign exchequer, she said. Jha was presented the International Intellectual Achievement Award by Global Achievers Foundation, Thailand, at the summit.
