PATNA: A 40-feet high statue of Mahatma Gandhi will be installed at the historic Gandhi Maidan here. Chief minister Nitish Kumar has given his consent for the installation of the high statue.
He also directed for the beautification of the maidan and said the pathway around it should be of high standard. He said drainage system be upgraded and other facilities should also provided.
Maters related to the historic maidan were discussed on Thursday at a meeting the CM held with the top officials of the building construction department and the minister concerned. It is, however, not known what will be done with Gandhi’s statue which is located in the midst of the maidan which had been installed by then CM Lalu Prasad more than a decade ago.
The CM also discussed issues related to construction of legislators colony, international convention centre. Combined tribunal office building and under construction complex of Bihar assembly and secretariat and reviewed progress of these projects. He directed the officials for the renovation of state guest house and inspected the place.
