PATNA: Wanna avail of telephone facility without paying the bills? Get a tip or two from Ankit Fadia. Hack into the BSNL website and remove your name from the list of consumers whose bills are not paid.
‘Doc Attack’, ‘ARP Poisoning’, ‘Tab Napping’ and ‘SQL injection’ were some of the hacking tricks that the renowned ethical hacker wowed the youngsters with at a brainstorming session held during the IIT-Patna’s techno-cultural fest, ‘Anwesha’, on Saturday.
To the surprise and shock of his audience, the 24-year-old hacked into the BSNL website within no time. He also hacked into the website of DTDC, a courier service firm, with equal ease.
No less interesting was the demonstration of ‘road sign hacking’ with Fadia changing the signs displayed on roads by using a simple password. After being hacked, two such signs in the USA read ‘Zombies Ahead’ and ‘You May Never Reach’! He even shared the trick of hacking into an ATM, but warned all never to attempt it.
“Hackers can do anything. If you are not fully protected, your CPU could be even remotely burnt,” he said as he rattled off a few tips on how to secure one’s email accounts from being hacked.
Full-on fun marked the second day of the fest. “No studies, only masti,” said Nisha Kumar, a IIIrd year student of Computer Science.
Games also kept the students engaged. ‘Mind Hunters’, a puzzle game; ‘Kicks Don’t Lie’, a football match; ‘Foot Code’, a computer game; ‘Eco Challenge’, a quiz contest on environment and ‘Bolly Quiz’ had the audience receptive as well as responsive. There was also a talk on FOREX, at which RBI officials spoke on foreign exchange.
Palak Agarwal, a IIIrd year IITian in charge of registering students from other institutions for participation in the fest, described the turnout as “amazing”.
NIT-Patna, BIT-Patna, Science College, Patna Women’s College, NIFT, Magadh Mahila College and a few schools like St Joseph’s Convent and Notre Dame Academy have also got themselves registered for the purpose.
The fest on its second day concluded with a song competition, christened ‘Syngphony’, and a dance competition, called ‘Heel Turn’.
On Sunday, Ustad Kamal Sabri will perform at 10 am while famous rock band Sifar will regale students at 9 pm.

Ankit is one the biggest fraud in the ethical hacking industry. I am not trying to defame him, but I was one of the first readers of his book ‘Ethical Hacking’ of which 85% of the codes and scripts were copy pasted from hard working websites. He has the balls to ‘NOT’ credit the original codes too.
Bihar should not invite such people who do have the core fundamental knowledge of the field and just ride the wave of fame.
Instead it is a request to the education committee to introduce ethical hacking to interested candidates. This will allow them to undertake research and create a stronger network and cyber platform in the country.
