Bihar CM keen for interlinking of Bihar rivers


Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has directed officers and engineers in the state government to take steps for interlinking of rivers in the state which would help in mitigating the miseries caused by both droughts and floods.

At a high-level meeting of the state Water Resources Department here yesterday, Mr Kumar told the engineers and officers concerned to take steps in this regard.

“The state government will try to make available the funds required for the ambitious project,” he said.

The Chief Minister said such a mega project would help in better utilization of the state’s vast water resources.

Mr Kumar said Bihar would have to utilize all its resources to the optimum level for attaining the status of a developed state by the year 2015.

No laxity by the officers and concerned engineers would be tolerated by the state government in this regard, he warned.
