Chief minister Nitish Kumar today urged the railway minister Mamata Banerjee to completie various railway projects in Bihar in time as well as run new trains on different routes in the state, including a high speed Duranto Express between Patna and New Delhi.
In a letter to the railway minister outlining his wish list from the railway budget from the fiscal year 2011-12, Kumar demanded that all railway projects in Bihar be completed in a time-bound manner in the interests of the state and extended his government’s cooperation and necessary assistance to the railway authorities in this regard.
He urged Banerjee to commit sufficient funds in this fiscal year’s railway budget for the ongoing and incomplete projects in Bihar, including railway lines, wheel manufacturing plant at Chapra, diesel locomotive manufacturing unit at Marhouwra, greenfield electric loco manufacturing plant at Madhepura.
Among his other demands, the chief minister has urged the railway minister to sanction a high speed Duranto express between the state capital and the national capital, besides trains between Bhagalpur-Bikaner, Patna-Dehradun, Muzaffarpur-Pune, Rajgir-Howrah, extension of Gaya-Chennai train to Bangarluru.
Kumar has further urged the railway minister to include Gaya and Hajipur stations for developing them into world class stations and time-bound completion of rail-road bridge at Digha.
