Bihar Police also to celebrate Bihar Diwas

PATNA: Reflecting Bihar’s changing image, the much publicized “Bihar Diwas” is set to be celebrated on March 22 on a grand scale by the state police department, too.

“We have given directives to all police stations across the state to observe the occasion with fervor and joy. They have been directed to organize cultural, social and sports activities on the day,” DGP Neelmani said here on Tuesday.

However, keeping the Holi festival in view, the day will be celebrated at various levels on different dates. While various programmes were organized at the thana (police station) level on March 13 itself, at the sub-division level the day was celebrated on March 15. At the district level activities will be organized from March 17 to 22.

From March 22 to 24, STF demonstrations, riot drill, dog show and the police band will be played at the Gandhi Maidan, the main venue of the celebrations. An exhibition on traffic will be also organized.

At the Miller School ground, the police department will organize an equestrian show under the guidance of the ADG, military police.

Apart from decorating the police station buildings with lights, cycle rally, Sadbhavna (harmony)rally, air gun and balloon firing competition, volleyball, kho-kho, kabbadi have been held at thana and division level.

Sweets and toffees were distributed among the people and specially children who visited the thana premises during the ongoing celebrations.

At the district level, directive have been issued to take out Sadbhavna rally and run. Kite flying competition, essay competition on the topic “Role of police in the development of state”, painting competition, debate competition, etc will also be organized.

“Dedicated police officers will also be honoured on the occasion,” the DGP said. The police station which presented the best programme will be awarded by their respective superintendent of police.

Blood donation programmes will be also organized at the district level by the police department. Cultural programmes will be showcased by cops and their children.

The state police headquarters has also come out with special stickers on Bihar Diwas which will be pasted on all police vehicles.
